I had an open RNY on the 18th of this month. I am feeling weaker and have been for the last 3 days. Does anyone have an answer????? I can eat and take meds. Was dehydrated and just got back to taking protein shakes today. I have been eating and taking pills fine. Any and all advice appreciated. Called the doctor. Said to make sure I got my water and protein in.

I was weak and tired the first 2 weeks after my surgery. It wasn't until after that 2 week mark when I got all my energy. I was sleeping all the time until then. Good luck. Definitely make sure you get your water in. That's a big one (at least for me) protein comes second. I have to have my fluids or I feel like crap and get a headache. Good luck. I hope you feel better soon.

I was only 1 day ahead of you and my was lap. I felt like all I could do was sleep until this past week. I would imagine that it will take you longer since you were open. If you get all your protein and water in AND all your vitamins you should start feeling better. Nothing wrong with sleeping quite a bit. If you don't feel better by Monday, you might give your surgeon a call. he might want to run some labs.

I had my Lap rny on the 19th...Yesterday was not such a good day...though most so far have been wonderful.  I think I got dehydrated...weak and dizzy and a bigggie of a headache... Today I drank a glass of water in the middle of the nicht, the minute I got up ..and have been really trying to get the fluid in and i feel a ton better.     On my hubbys advise I also took in a little salt...don't know if was a factor but today was indeed much better.

Rest and treat yourself with patience...it will get better I am sure...hugs and good wishes to you.... Sue

Well I had my surgery on the 17th and then had an emergency surgery on the 18th. I still feel like **** and weak. I went to the ER last night due to neusea and dizziness, they gave me some fluids and some neusea meds and sent me home.... I don't feel any better.  I am having a lot of trouble getting those nasty ass protein shakes down and trying to get as much water down as I can..... I really hope this is just a phase and goes by fast any advise please help.

Gosh I am sorry to hear that you had not one but two surgeries right on top of another.  Do you mind if I ask what happened?  Whatever it was I hope that it is nothing to worry about anymore.

As for you feeling bad, I think you need to take it easy.  You had two surgeries!!  Yikes I would so want my hubby to help me all day if I went through all of that.

Protein shakes are terrible!  I do not like the at all and cringe everytime I have to drink one.

Well I wish you luck on your recovery.  Keep us posted with your progress.

So sorry you are feeling so bad!   I do get what you mean about the protein shakes...They are also real important!   I bought all kinds of premixed ones and ther are all awful.
Have you tried starting with a small blender , soy  or regular milk and sugar free carnation instant breakfast... I use that with a scoop of protein powder, bit of benefiber and a couple of Ice cubes and it tastes fresh and great.    If i had to live on Eas or slimagunk right now i might just have lost my will completely.

The best thing I have is my $13 mini blender from wal mart.   It makes the liquids seem like smoothies.

You can also make hot cocoa with the carnation instant breakfast...a minute and a half in the microwave..

Soy milk is a little easier to get down than cow milk for me too...and tastes a lot better than I would have imagined.

For fluids makd sure you get them..that has been the key to my good or bad day factor..Sugarless popsicles help me get that in and take care of the urge to crunch.
walking used to be fun for me but hasn't been since the surgery..( probably because it is 30 degrees out there... yuk)   But I feel a lot better if I do it!

Nothing new but i hope there is a little something that might help you..I feel for you and you will be in my prayers... It will get much better...have faith about that.

Also, I put 2 scoops in my SF/FF pudding!  That really helps to get it in!

I agree completely with PPs.  I had lap RNY and it was easily 2 weeks before I felt okay.  Then by 3 weeks I would say I started to feel good.  In the big picture it is not that much time but it feels like forever.  Make sure to keep following up with your doctor though if you think that there is something wrong.

Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon!

It is amazing how we are all so different!  I feel GREAT!  I mean SUPER!  Today I was able to get out of bed with no assistance, I had OPEN RNY 5 days ago.  I take a 2 hour nap each day.  I have gotten so much done around the house.  Only taking pain meds twice daily.  I walk around the house for at least 5 minutes each hour.  It REALLY helps!  I am on Stage 3 diet but I think I am making me an egg this morning!  I hate the Protein Drinks now too, I liked them a week ago, so I am putting Protein Powder in EVERYTHING I make so that I do not need to do the shakes!  Best Wishes to you and SO SORRY about the TWO Surgeries.
